Dunno nothing about dutch, but best names have multiple positive meanings. In norwegian the meaning is "the best weather"

Bestevaer to me would be bes teh veer or that's how it's sounds from a Dutch fella as best as I can make out anyway it's a really heavy accent

KM formed cutting files for every thickness used (fascinating to view) and the actual cutting was then outsourced. I presume the cutting was computer generated from the files. The lines look absolutely perfect.

I have no idea how I would be able to stay away from that build and not "help".... Of course the price would likely double, and be riddled with inferior work... But it would be soooooooooooooo worth it!!!

Bestevaer was also the name of the boat Gerhard Dijkstra designed for himself to take part in the 1976 Ostar. It's not a coincidence that his current yacht is called "Bestevaer II" When that boat was launched the Dutch sailing magazine "Zeilen" even ran an article comparing both the first Bestevaer, and the successor...

Hmmm... mebbe...

It would be an absolute travesty if some of the adjacent plating in the pole location were not polished to a mirror finish.... I'll start investigating lighting for you guys....

More photos have arrived .

Work has started on the rear section.

This is the cockpit floor showing foot bracing along the centreline (a feature on Bestevaer II, which we liked and asked to have duplicated). The initial two holes along the centreline will be pots for a removable cockpit table. The next hole back will be top of the rudder, and the rear one is for the tiller.

At the front in each corner are the large cockpit drains:

Not for long. A minimal amount of the exterior will be painted (just limited areas of non skid on the deck and the antifouling). A little will be anodised. The rest will soon acquire a weathered, zero maintenance patina .

I was down by the water last weekend and came across a really nice aluminium sail boat, I think it was in the 30 foot range and very nice looking as well they had left the aluminium to weather but with areas that looked highly polished. Got to admit that I felt a pang of desire for it.

I am surprised how good aluminium looks on the water it was definitely giving an air of place, it is meant to be there. Although that could have been the alcohol I had in me helping with that!
