Re: Best Pilothouse Sailboat?

We love our pilothouse!! Night watches are pretty sweet being able to sip coffee in a t-shirt with all instruments right there. It is nice not being in a cave at anchor too.

Perhaps it is just me… but on photo that Noordkap looks a bit bow heavy, with too low a freeboard for its size?
That was my impression too.... looks like it'll be ready to submarine big time coming down a big wave....

Always tickles me when people point out that this will lead to a wet boat. When water is coming over the bow, the helmsman will be warm and dry inside!

Re: Best Pilothouse Sailboat?

I think this is the best pilothouse version of a venerable cruising-live aboard sailboat
1974 Gulfstar MS53 Pilothouse sailboat for sale in Florida
And it is available at a reduced price.

Looks more like a hard dodger than a pilothouse.

Re: Best Pilothouse Sailboat?

Nope - it is a real aluminum pilothouse - with all of the navigation and sail systems operated from inside. We call it our "penthouse" as we spent most of our time living up there while cruising the Caribbean in shade and shelter from sun, wind and waves.

You must be joking about great reduced price as i slept on one in 1983 for sale for 44k and in much better shape,,, these old boats are a remodal/renovation project.. anyone who doesnt beat the price down to 50k for starters has been smoking weed since 1974 and is off-the-wall or won the lottery or inheritance route,, caveat emptor is my advice same as force 50s and formosas ,,be careful as you are buying a serious maintenance project with existing rusting fuel tanks etc that are NOT cheap to replace,,,Carpe diem on these prices is not the rule,, Take your time and seriously analyse the situation and your abilities of repair at discount prices,,, i have literally seen and witnessed later after closing the brokers laughing at the POS they just sold to some Newbie... Thank me later,,,
