Some types of silicone give off small amounts of acetic acid [acetoxy cure], or alcohols [neutral alkoxy cure], while curing/setting.
Acetic silicone sealant emits a pungent, non-toxic, vinegar odour [acetic acid], when curing.
Neutral silicones are, either odourless, or smell slightly of alcohol, while curing.
