Albin Vega With Gelcoat Crazing Under Mast ?

Saw a Vega for sale on the East Coast of the USA for six grand. Original standing rigging 10year old 2gm with "about 250 hours" on it and gelcoat crazing under the mast.

I gather this means the deck is flexing around the mast step. If I buy this boat it'd mean a quick two or three day trip to fly out from Western Canada and inspect it and keep it on the hard until October when I'd be off work again and could, theoretically, sail it south to warmer places blah blah blah...

Should I even bother? I don't really want to spend my six months off screwing around in a boatyard but I'd imagine if there's flexing under the mast it means replacing the bulkheads and supporting beam before tackling the gelcoat. Wondering how much time and money that's likely to take a motivated guy with zero carpentry or fibreglass experience. I'm sure it's not rocket science and the pieces I'd have to take out appear to be in good enough shape to use as templates for the new pieces but is it worthwhile?

Mast beam problems are a common issue in Vegas.. not a big deal and easy to remedy in a day or two.you should research this on the Vega site and handle the repairs by YOURSELF. Get some experience doing this or you bill be a victim at boatyards everywhere.
