14 days for us! And, I'm so excited, I almost can't sleep.

Sing Free, Welcome to the community. You're correct that there's a lot of old history here and searches can take you far into the past. Selecting forum topics will present the most recent threads and there is the "New Posts" on the selection bar near the top of the page. 'tell us of your plans and adventures.

We are hopefully going to take possession of our future live a board later this week. An Islander Freeport 41'. We're buying the boat in San Diego and cruising it up to our home port in Channel Islands Harbor. Wife retires in December but we should be living on board by November. We're planning on doing the Ha Ha 10/2016 then to points unknown and if things go as planned across the pacific in about another 2 years. We've been sailors but not cruisers, yet. We are super excited to be this close to heading out for the journey of our lives.
Welcome to CF, Sing Free, and have a good life aboard.

You might want to re-post your note in the 'Meets and Greets" forum... the usual place for introductions.

Enjoy your boat and CF!

Jim

Give us a break from all these silly ideas!

Jim

PS: I had to go up about 35 feet in a gale once when much younger... got the **** beat out of me and scared to death all the time I was aloft. This is serious stuff, and has considerable risk involved. Damn scary to me...
Jim

it scared the dickens out of me even before I did it. Scares me even more now. But a wannabe cruisers shouldn't know all that already - so if (s)he is scared already - maybe (s)he should reconsider

Our books have gotten 5 star reviews on Amazon. Several readers have written "I never thought I would go on a circumnavigation, but when I read these books, I was right there in the cockpit with Vinni and Carsten"
