It is the necessary duty for any pickup crew to vet the skipper, any additional crew and the vessel before signing on. Doesn't matter if male, female or indeterminate, your life may depend upon this process.

The OP was not skillfully crafted, and should have included much more info, but to imagine evil intent from that is way over t he top IMO. Skip may or may not find his crew here, but hopefully that person will do the right thing and perform their own investigation. Skip, of course should equally vet the ap

Skip, welcome to CF, good luck with the cruise and don't let those accusatory posts turn you away.

Re: Female crew for sailing trip June 2017

I was looking for female crew and 15 years later we are married and have sailed 40,000nm together.

A wonderful, wonderful partnership...and of course a relationship based on mutual respect, sailing skills and...sex in 30 different countries.

Re: Female crew for sailing trip June 2017

Hee, hee....

I didn't post an ad or such, I kinda reluctantly agreed to crew on a friends boat in a silly "race" to a popular watering spot. I found Ann there as a fellow crew member. Quickly pinched her away from him and here we are, nearly 40 years later, still together. It's good, for some days she lets me steer if I'm not busy fixing the head.

Seriously, the chances of finding a life partner via a post on CF are pretty slim, but that's not to say that good opportunities don't come up here. If one does the proper vetting after introduction, the chances for disaster are not so dismal, and happy voyaging is frequently reported from such "hookups", even if permanence is not there.

So, lets hope that Skip finds suitable crew and that they have a great cruise. What happens next will be revealed later, and is beyond the purview of this thread IMO.

Re: Female crew for sailing trip June 2017

A big thank you to the nice and welcoming people here.

And...to all the accusing - worried and protective super hero's of the female race...I can declare and promise that I'm not Jack the Ripper or Charles Manson!
All I'd like is some nice helping company on board and only because my family and close friends can't join me this time.
Never in my long life I had such strange reactions to an ad in any other sailing forum?
Too much free time for some people? Don't you have a new President to worry about?

Sorry but this is my last respond here. I have a boat to maintain !

These are certainly aspects to be up front about. And maybe any hobbies like gardening, perhaps mowing the lawn, so you know how you are going to get on together.

Probably because of the morality police like you.

Secondly, when it comes to gender I personally find it easier to have conversations with the members of the opposite sex. The talk and subject matter is usually lighter with no staring down, primarily because the testosterone levels are a little lower and the need to show me how much better they would be sailing in a heavy wind than I would.

And of course the accepted female role in most relation ships.................

Ah, you slipped that last one in there.....

12 years later, my partner tests my testosterone levels on a regular basis and is lovingly guiding me into my second infancy...[emoji1]

So Ewwwww that!

Uhhh...., maybe because he just joined the forum this month???!!. Cheez, hate to have you on a jury. Guilty without proof. I, on the other hand, prefer to look at the glass half full, and give everyone a chance.

Skip- Don't worry about it. Some people live in a paranoid bubble. Welcome. Hope you find a good female crew. BTW, I'm a 62 year old male who's sailed 40+ years with both male and female crews and there's something good to be said about both, but I've always got along better with women more than men. Ewwwww gross....

I am looking for a nice woman to join me on my circumnav as well so whats wrong with that? and Im up for a new relationship but that doesent mean im creppy. I have had lots of women crew of all ages and Iv been offshore alone with many for days sometimes. That doesent make me creppy either. They are all still great friends of mine with whom I have regular contact. Like most healthy Males I happen to like Female company. Thank god for that. If I stopped liking women tomorrow now that would be creepy.
