For some reason there is a shyness about posting costs. I have no idea why, as although no two people will ever pay the same, it gives them a very rough idea.

Re: yacht transport via freighter

We are trying to get a quote to take Golden Rule, a 39 ft ketch, from Japan back to the US West Coast any time after September. We're thinking we'll crate her and get her on top of a load of containers, but at 39 ft long, 11.5 ft wide and 10 ft high, she won't fit into a standard container. So we'll have to build one. Given that we can probably do that, we're still having a hard time getting a quote from either a shipping company or a freight forwarding company. Any ideas? Before we sail her to Japan, we need to know how we'll get her back to the US.

You might check into RORO ships. The mast will have to come off but 10ft air draft should be OK.

Re: yacht transport via freighter

Hello Helenjaccard,
Did you find a solution for shipping? We curently have our yacht in Guam and shipping from Japan back to the US would be interesting for us.
Best regards Helge Larsen
