You guys are way to harsh... If the ship's master was an executive of a financial institution that crashed, he would get a bonus!

Re: Freighter Destroys US Bridge
Very disturbing to be driving on a bridge and see the bow of a cruiser come through in front of you. Oh wait. It looks like a freighter.

The Captain's first thought, "Did I remember to pay the insurance premium this month?"
It's remarkable that no-one was hurt.

Re: Freighter Destroys US Bridge
Did they pick the wrong span or was it just the river height?

Yikes! That's one way to get through. Tad aggressive though. Found another technique for dealing with bridges here

Reminds me of the Summit Venture that killed the Sunshine Skyway in the early ’80’s

Re: Freighter Destroys US Bridge
Think I heard on the local news that he missed the correct span. No one hurt, although a motorist on the bridge had a close call.

Re: Freighter Destroys US Bridge
I am surprised the ship is in that good of shape after blasting thru all those I beams and concrete... even with all that weight sitting on the bow, the ship is still level...

Think he went between concrete and only re-arranged the steelwork?

Re: Freighter Destroys US Bridge
Looks like the highest point s two spans over. The article makes it sound like this is the regular route for the ship. Momentary lapse of judgement? Lots of sleepless nights over that one I bet.
