Back on topic - a question relevant to myself. What is the reputation of Pop Yachts? Probably you are going to tell me that it depends on the specific broker, which I don't really have any control over, since when you make the online query they decide who responds, who I guess is the listing broker?

Re: What is going on with Florida brokers

Brokers talk about "tire kickers" and "inexperienced boaters" and "doesn't know what he wants"........so they don't respond!

Where the heck to they think boat buyers come from? I'm all of the above when I start out, and have purchased my 21st boat about 6 months ago, NONE from a broker, because they clearly don't want my business. And this is several boats in the 6 figure range.

I think they hire anybody with a pulse to obtain listings in the hopes that a boat might sell. It doesn't matter where their new "brokers" are or whether they know anything about boats or even if they have ever been on a boat. They are told to scour CL and other sites looking for listings. That's why you see a lot of cheap boats on their site. I would avoid them.

Re: What is going on with Florida brokers

What I have seen of Pop Yachts in Florida - boats that owners tried to sell themselves - have no luck - go to Pop Yachts - increase the price 20-30% and of course then the boat still sits there - most are overpriced - however I have seen a few that might be good buys - the boat I currently have was listed with them at twice the price I eventually bought the boat at from the owner

Thanks - very helpful. I am probably wayyyy down market from you folks. But I am looking at a 3 year old boat for about 60% of the price of new. In this hot market, that seems pretty reasonable to me.

??

This is not back on the OP's topic. This is a hijack to ask your own, quasi-relevant question.
