Just click on the blue dots when your cursor changes from a hand to a finger point.

I know what you mean but I don't see any blue dots along the trackline which is just one solid yellow line. As I am using my iPad I will have to take a look at the link on my laptop as I suspect it may be a limitation of viewing the link on an iPad.

Re: Webb Chiles' 6th Circumnavigation Launching Today

When he circumnavigated in his Drascombe-lugger in the 70's he was much, much younger. In subsequent years, even he moved onto much larger boats. I wish him well and hope that this voyage ends better than the one in his green, modified former IOR racing boat (sorry, I forget the name, but believe it was about 37 feet LOA).

I looked it up and the boat you are referring to was a "SHE 36" sloop, named Resurgam.

I just read the story about it sinking, and Webb swimming without a life jacket for more than 24 hours. Quite the story!

You thinking about this one?
Quote:
The second loss was as complete but took place during a single night in 1992 when I sank the 36’ sloop, RESURGAM, off the coast of Florida, following which I floated and swam for 26 hours and was carried more than 125 miles by the Gulf Stream before reaching an anchored fishing vessel.
He did at least one circumnavigation after that (possibly 2?), the last one in THE HAWKE OF TUONELA, which was green and which he sold (gave away?).

I thought he jumped overboard to commott suicide then changed his mid as Resurgam sailed away by itselt and he swam-drifted over a hundred miles north and was rescued by fishing boats.. Is this correct?

George, that was my recollection after reading the book he had written about it. Or perhaps he scuttled it and then decided he wanted to live and swam for an eternity until he was rescued. Either way, I distinctly recall a suicide attempt.

As of 00:01 UTC June 07, 14, Webb is about 47 NM from Hilo. He has made great time in his little boat.

I'm anxiously awaiting an update when he's able, to see how he likes how Gannet handles, and how he's holding up with the space constraints, and how he's enjoying this go-round.

Me too, although I think she must handle very well judging from the speed he has averaged. He did quite a bit of research before he settled on the Moore. But the interior space is what would kill me. I am the same age as he but he must be much more flexible than I am. I hope his last few miles to Hilo are good ones.

A new blog entry from Webb: Hilo: hard and good

I stand corrected; it took him 18 days.

I sailed a Islander 24 and a Cal 25 from San Diego to Hawaii. And bailed both times. But I kept going in a Cascade 29.

I don't think Webb will bail. He will keep going.
