Last Spring I stripped all of the bright
work on the exterior of my Bristol 31 and applied Semco instead of
varnish. Initially, I was very pleased with the results. It was easy to apply (2 coats) and provided a nice natural finish. Over the course of the Summer (Northeast) it bleached out in spots and didn't look so good at that point. I know that it needs to be reapplied annually (more in Southern waters) but I'm considering going back to
varnish. I'm planning on returning to an alkyd (Cetol) and my question is whether going over the Semco with varnish will create any problems. Would appreciate any
advice. Can't imagine I'm the only one to have gone thru this.
