come on, CF, let's really help this chap prepare for the worst!

The boat is full of Aussies who have been partying for the last 7 months, one of them was MarkJ.

I don't think you can top THAT for a horror scenario.

Boats on the Rio Dulce sometimes get killer bees in mast. Challenging problem.

Doubt that barnacles will be too much of a problem if you had decent paint on the bottom and running gear. My experience in the Bahamas is that unless you are in a very fouled marina or in brackish water cove you won't have much barnacle issue. Mostly slime or grassy slime.
Worry most about condition of the batteries and is the boat stayed pumped out.
Seven months with out bilge being pumped oot would probably sink a boat - so unless it failed early in the hiatus your probably ok. You do have more than one bilge pump - right? Any boat should have at least 2 - and if left unattended for more than a few weeks I suggest more than 2 with at least two different hoses to the outside in case the pump out hose fails or gets a rat hole. Ask me how I know.

Fuel fine.
Good Luck.

Boat became a crack den. Plumbing and through holes clogged up with condoms and sharps.

many thanks to all - came back and she was in pretty good shape for having sat there for 7 months [those Grampian's are tanks, to be honest].

used the putty knife - worked a charm
will forever try bagging the prop - a fantastic idea.

one of the batteries was in sad shape, but the solar panels somehow managed to keep working.

again, really appreciate the advice and support.
