Scary Majorca Marina costs

I was seriously interested in a Beneteau 36 CC in Majorca, I emailed the marina there to see how much it would cost to keep it there for one year, I assumed it may be 4-5 000 Euros, Im shocked to the core to receive a proposal for more than 17000 Euros (not including water and electricity ) Surely it hasn't come to this ?

ha. Welcome to the "Yachting capitol of the med" as they like to call it. Yes, crazy prices and not sure how anyone apart from the superyacht owners can afford it. I was charged 400 euros for one night last year (66 footer).

You might be better off getting a place on the Spanish mainland. Much, much "cheaper".

Yes Kevin, I just thought I would enjoy cruising around Majorca while it was actually there, I am currently researching several on the Spanish mainland, I always knew the islands would be more expensive, but I was genuinely taken aback by this for a 36 footer, (Glad it isn't a 66 )

Lol. I keep my Catalina 25 on a trailer a marina for $40 a month AND they put it in the water as well as remove it. I was paying $150!
People will charge what they can get.
Keep looking!

Re: Scary Majorca Marina costs

So, in the "cheap" marinas, what would a week cost?

At Real Nautic I have paid €160 for a week in early June on an 11metre boat.. high season kicked in the day we left.
If you pay up front for the winter you can often get a decent discount at most marinas in Spain. Weekly you pay the full rate.
Almerimar I was paying €21/night for a Lagoon 440, paying 3 or 6 months in advance would be much cheaper and discounted upto 20%.

Perhaps you need to remember that Spain is a Socialist Country, and Remember that Socialism is Communism with a Mask On. I have been living here in Andalucia since July 1982, so I understand how prices have soared since Franco bought the farm. However, apart from the crooked Socialist stealing every penny they can, Spain is a very desirable place to live. "Arriba España, y dame un copa de Rioja."

Ok, phew, this is not out of this world anymore. Actually a bit cheaper than over here in Finland.

Re: Scary Majorca Marina costs

If you want to Winter In Spain, avoid every port in the north unless you wish to have both your nuts and bolt frozen off. On the other hand Andalucia has pretty much the same winters you would expect in San Diego, California. We have a very nice port here in Rota,Cadiz, with Chipiona and Sanlucar de Barrameda just rock throwing distance from Rota. The Huge "Puerto Sherry" in El Puerto de Santa Maria can handle Huge Yachts and they have Full Refitting Facilities, however, the smaller ports I mentioned are much more economical as long as your boat is under 33.
