Sailing with VIPs ;-)

Each year our sailing club hosts the Ambassador's Cup. It is a race around a local island with a twist. It is hosted by one of the Ambassador's to Singapore and he invites all the other Ambassador's to particpate.

We had the Brazilian Ambassador and his wife on board and had a splendid time. It was our first time and also the Ambassador's first time. We raced PY and out of 40 boats (including 10 or so cats) we finished around 31 or 32. However at the race diner we were very pleasantly surprised to find out we finished 6th on handicap beating a Mumm 30 - Whooo-haaa!

There are a bunch of photos here if you are interested to have a look. We are sail KS3338.

I sail at work quite often with VIPs. They are either incredibly rude and ignorant or are an absolute delight to have on board. Had some foreign government ministers on board today who were srushing cans on the (teak) cockpit sole and leaving them there. As a rule they are generally good, especially if they understand Kiwi humour. We often tend to forget that important people are human and I quite enjoy poking a bit of fun at them to see how they respond. (doesn't always work if English isn't their natural language)
