Yeah. Ran from Vallejo to Edith Point (Suisun Bay) today, and back. Winds were light: five to ten miles an hour. Saw four pinnipeds in Suisun Bay: three on channel buoys and one in the water. Passed by Norwegian bulk-ship Western Moscow opposite Port Costa in Carquinez Strait on her way from Stockton to a southern California port. Averaged five knots upriver, and nine knots downriver.

Are you ready for the two-day Vallejo Race next weekend?

(Opening Day in the Carquinez Strait area was last weekend. So far, I've been able to avoid the "crazies" of opening days for the last five decades.)

Don't see a need to "bless" a boat annually. It need only be done once, like a baptism.

Re: Opening Day on SF Bay

Woke up just north of Rat Rock in San Pablo Bay, right where we went to sleep, expecting the winds to be WNW we went up to the Petaluma channel with the hopes of trying out the new spinnaker, instead the wind had shifted to a southerly and we worked our way back south against the wind, though it did give the opportunity to play with the new mizzen staysail.

Stayed well clear of main bay and had a great day on the water. No, won't be doing the Vallejo Race. We are to other sailing craft what the Good Year blimp is to a jet, but we make a great course marker or committee boat. But we are comfy cozy in the pilothouse. Have a great race!

Re: Opening Day on SF Bay

Silly me, I had no idea Sunday was opening day. Lucky I got to Angel island for a hike way before the crowds (of boats).... Leaving angel island was pretty exciting in raccoon straits, Though only saw one near miss....
