New mainsail hangup

Hi:
I recently purchased a new mainsail for my fractional rig sloop which has only two (2) spreaders. The vessel is equipped with a cleat to secure the mainsail halyard. We all know that a newly fabricated sail can be a bit difficult to deal with because of its newness and crispness and I’m finding that it gets hung-up on one ,or both, of the spreaders occasionally. To add to this, I’ve had a Lazyjack system installed and am currently awaiting the completion of a Stack Pack mainsail cover that should be ready for installation any day now. Does anyone have a fairly simple solution to this issue that could be shared?
Thanks.

Briefly, pinch up, nearly head to wind.

Hanging up on the spreaders? What wind direction are you raising the main in?

For lazy jacks, just loosen them up a bit before hoisting the sail. I just watch the sail as I am raising it and give it a good pull when it’s clear of the lazy jacks until all the battens are clear.

Re: New mainsail hangup

How are you getting the main hung up on the spreaders? That's practically impossible If you raise the main head to wind like you are supposed to...

Re: New mainsail hangup

Put the bow directly in the wind and watch as you hoist to keep the main centered as you raise it. As others have said, slack the lazy jacks.
