Re: New Foul Weather Set $85 - GREAT!

Just got my Large in from Overstock. Zipper is on the right and the length with everything is fine, though things are pretty baggy (@ 6'2" - 165lbs).

Just spent 10 minutes in the shower with the whole suit on and I was dry and comfortable except for my upper arms. When my arms were up, water was trickling in through the cuffs... Never sailed before, so not sure if this is relevant. I also wasn't wearing gloves. Overall, very happy with the quality of them. Now I need some gloves and boots....!

Re: New Foul Weather Set $85 - GREAT!

Thanks for reminding me! I need to pull out the ole measuring tape and camera, to show the differences between the small and medium jacket.

I did finally receive a small jacket from the Vermont Army Navy store. It fits a good bit better, but again the medium isn't bad.

Small is probably 20%-25% smaller than medium.

I need to go wake my tailor and get him to measuring

Woo hoo barometers dropping fast, got a race today, I might get a chance to test them out, I'll let you all know how they work out. After extensive examination I have found one Velcro patch that has not sewn very well (where the hood rolls into collar). I will keep an eye on it, an easy repair if it fails.

Re: New Foul Weather Set $85 - GREAT!

This will hopefully help all those who don't know whether a medium will be too big. I am 5'5" 125 lbs. I measured 62 inches with arms out to the side, finger tip to finger tip.

In the first pic I have on the medium, check out how much of my fingertips stick out of the arms, and also where the jacket falls on my thighs.

The second pic is of the small. You can see much more of the finger tips and it's a little shorter. But overall it's not THAT much smaller. I got the small by checking the Army Navy Vermont store periodically. Also a friend of ours told us they sell these out of a German Coffee shop: Tchibo Onlineshop | ab 80
Maybe you could contact them and see if there is another way to get a small.
I hope this helps!!

Thanks Dani,
I think a small is the way to go but she can live with the medium. I'll keep trying..clicked around on the german site..no joy on finding them..Those crazy Germans got all sorts of stuff in there.

I know! I also tried looking on their site, but couldn't find them. I figured I'd have to search for them in German, or call them. Weird they sell foulies out of a box out of a coffee shop..haha

I'll have the Latte and a Small Foul Weather jacket please.

Re: New Foul Weather Set $85 - GREAT!

I bought the set for my wife and wish I could find a small too. The medium is a bit too large for her frame. Let me know what you find out.

I'll be happy to sell the trousers if anyone needs a set of mediums... she already has a set of Gills and only needed the jacket. Still in the box... $45 shipped!

Opened my set of XL's today and they fit perfectly and appear very sturdy. I'm 6'2", 220. For $86 I can't imagine a better deal. Thanks, OP.

Wore mine racing onSunday. Good fit, I'm 5'8", 220, L bibs, Xl jacket. Although the jacket is roomy (I like it that way, I'm working the coffee grinder) it was kind of tight around my face closing up the collar. I had a hard time adjusting the hood too. Is it me? Do I have a fat head? Is anyone else noticing this? Other than that, breathes very well, warm but not too hot (I hate foullies because I get too hot, especially downwind, these were not bad!) collar kept me cozy in cold rain. Bibs did not restrict movement. Crew mates were inquiring as to availability, all in all I am very satisfied. Zipper is weird, but not a problem. Thanks OP!

Re: New Foul Weather Set $85 - GREAT!

I just went to the VT Army Navy site to see if they had any left (crewmate wants Mediums) and they now offer each piece seperately for $39.95. They list M, L, and XL in choices.

More info for those thinking about buying and wondering about size. I'm 5' 11, 195 lbs. Medium is just a bit too small, pants definantly to small. The large is just about right. Plenty of room for extra layers in the cold and lots of room for ventilation in the summer. Just got them today.
