Navik Windvane Issues

Hello Sailors!

I have a Navik Windvane (like the one here: http://windvaneselfsteering.com/file/navik(uk).pdf) on my Albin Vega 27. Generally speaking, it's in good shape, but it has, what I think, an unnecessary amount of play in the system. We tried using it the other day from Anguilla to St. Martin, but it hard-deflected and was about to gybe us, so we disconnected the gear. It probably didn't help that we were on a broad reach.

In any case, with the vane locked in place, I am still able to move the rod that controls the trim tab back-and-forth a good 1 cm, which seems like too much. Additionally, when the vane is vertical, the trim tab is still slightly deflected to one direction, but I imagine this is just a matter of adjustment.

Anyone have experience with these windvanes? I'm looking for any advice, as well as where to source parts. If you're in St. Martin, or anywhere else in the Leeward Islands, send me a message.
