Re: La Paz in July?

Just got message BVI is opening. Still requires 4 day quarantine but better than it was. We used to run boats all summer down there. Winds aren't as good and some squalls but not bad. Definitely warm water.

any other companies to look at ? I am weary of DYC given their less than stellar reputation.

Another thought I forgot to mention; From LaPaz, the popular anchorages are a bit wide spaced, so depending on the length of your charter, keep that in mind. maybe 30-40 miles often.

Look at hurricane seasons.

We sail the Sea of Cortez, north of la Paz. We enjoy the warm seas but put our boat safely on the hard before July and we do not come back until after October. Usually we do not head south before December.

Hurricanes are very rare in the Sea of Cortez but they are more common around Cabo and la Paz.

You might look at Puerto Escondido area or Guaymas/San Carlos area. They hot in July but less chance of violent, rotating storms. From San Carlos it is an easy 75 -80 mile crossing to beautiful cruising grounds on the Baja side.

Since I gave up on the idea of Mexico
I think I have landed on the New England area for a charter
