Available crew of 1 coming north from la paz/cabo/oaxaca area

Hello all,

I am currently crewing a boat from Ensenada-La Paz, expect to reach La Paz around Nov. 1. I am looking for a ride back north from this area in the mid-november time frame. If I was you, I would take a bus or plane. There is not a thing fun about sailing north From La Paz to San Diego.

I remember a wonderful down wind sail along the Baja coast with a full main and cruising chute on our 35' boat. We were sailing easily in the mid 7's when we saw a 50 foot sailboat motoring straight into the chop going North.

We called the guy on the VHF and asked how things were going.
He said he had "the pedal to the metal doing only about a knot over the bottom."

If that's your kind of fun, more power to you!

Very true Steve.

I recall several instances of motorsailing N at 4/5kts and catching a wave that stopped all forward momentum. No doubt it sure can be a rough ride.

yeah, well if he was not going to sail properly then he ought to give the game away.
the reason why the 50 ft sailboat is called a sailboat is because its a sailboat. Its not designed to go straight into a sea and its not designed to go under motor. Put the sails up and go at 45 degrees to the sea and you'll find you get places fast. And without feeling seasick or banging the guts out of the boat.

Force 7 is a gentle breeze which can be cooling if you're unbuttoned to the waist (cutlass dangling from the mouth looks even better) and a 50 foot yacht should be lappin it up! And so ought the buffoons on it!
A week going into that, as ughmo2000 said, ain't so bad. In fact its a pleasure, a delight, a sensation like a Korean Therapeutic Massage, especially if the food is good, the stereo loud and the company cute ....
And I somehow fancy that I'd like to change with them,
Like to take a turn at sailing where the seasons come and go,
While they faced the round eternal of the cashbook and the journal -
But I doubt they'd suit the office...
