Invalid Radar message on B&G Zeus 3s

I have B&G Zeus 3S chartplotter and after trying my Radar (Simrad Halo 20+) for the first time this season I got these messages on the B&G: "Unknown Radar Scanner" was shown in the center of the display (where the radar image is normally shown) and "(Invalid) Halo20+-013A" was shown on the side menu.

I'm attaching the image.

Let me know if you have any ideas. Since mast was taken down for the winter and re-installed by marina for the spring I'm guessing they re-wired something incorrectly, maybe reverse polarity???

Re: Invalid Radar message on B&G Zeus 3s

Hello Paul,

I have the same issue! I’m so curious if anyone knows of a fix. Mine has been doing it off and on for about a year now.

There is a Facebook group dedicated to B&G. I’m wondering if anyone over there would know. I would ask them but deleted my Facebook account.

Good luck and if you do find an answer please post it here!

Thank you

Sam

Sam thanks for letting me know. So you think you had same error message? Does it just not happen sometimes, or you have to shutdown radar and restart a few times, or restart chartplotter? Let me know if there is a workaround even if it is a pain it would be better than nothing. Thx.

Re: Invalid Radar message on B&G Zeus 3s

Yes Paul I have the same error message “Invalid” and a “time out” message.

I’m sorry I have no work around. Mine seems to work when it gets turned on but then after a hour or less. It will show a “timed out message” and will show a “invalid” message. I’m sorta of lost at this point with it. I’ll be back on the boat in nine days and that’s on my fix or figure out what to replace list.

Sorry I’m not more help Paul.

If you network the Zeus into the internet, for instance by connecting its WiFi to your phone in hotspot mode, it will check for software updates for all devices, including the radar. The radar may need a firmware upgrade.

We tracked the problem to a bad blade fuse holder. Problem solved.

Thank you Wayneo, would you be able to tell me where you found the bad fuse?

We have a fuse block inside our cockpit at the base of the mast near where all the mast wires come out.
