Interesting that Volaris allows you to 'pack' ammunition. We live in Mexico part-time, and may not possess even one round of ammunition. Not even a spent casing! We check our firearms, ammo, and all accessories in with a U.S. gun shop or armory before crossing the border - or sailing in Mexican waters.
And flare guns with flares in luggage? Yikes!

Re: Flying in Mexico with PFD - CO2 Cartridge in Luggage?

If someone wants to confiscate a CO2 bottle because, you know, logically a sealed container could just be full of sarin gas?

Terrorism is not the reason, it's the fact that it's a pressurised container. On an interMexico flight it may not go high enough to be a problem but at height, it, texhnically, could be. Remember, aircraft are pressurised to keep the passengers alive.

"We live in Mexico part-time, and may not possess even one round of ammunition. "
Heck, Mexico *knows* how shiftless and untrustworthy these damned gringos really are. It was what, less than ten years ago that they first allowed gringos to actually purchase and own property within 100 miles of the coastline? Some such surprise like that, really.

"And flare guns with flares in luggage? Yikes!"
Fireworks! That's nothing dangerous. Mexicans take the word "Fiesta!" seriously. That's why you don't see any Mexicans portrayed in "American Gothic".

It ain't Passaic.

Re: Flying in Mexico with PFD - CO2 Cartridge in Luggage?

I have delivered aircraft all up and down Central and a lot of South America.
Do not argue, be nice and request permission. If you lucky as soon as you start to argue, they stop understanding English.
If your nice, polite and recognize their position and respect it, you will be amazed at what you can get away with, not that I’m trying to tell you to do something you shouldn’t.
