East Coast U.S Sailing North

Greetings All,
I need to move my boat in early-mid December from Ft. Lauderdale to Brunswick, Ga. 50' boat with 6.7' draft, two up. I have read the pilot charts and dug out what I could from this forum but need a little re-assurance from the locals. Is there typical weather at that time or do the pilot charts have it right. Hug the coast or go for the GS and pray for no North winds. Don't want to bail out at night and try and find a poorly lit shoaly inlet. It's 2d~15hrs straight through according to Navionics but no idea how long if I did day hops or where to hop into with my draft. Any help would be appreciated.

Best Regards!
