Please tell me if you can the total distance to sail from Falmouth, Ma. to Pensacola, FL.

Time for some nav planning. You can do it on paper with an eastern US chart, or, for example, on Google Earth with the distance measuring tool. Break it down into straight segments, and add it up. My tendency is to have a big chart on the dining table, complete with coffee and beer stains, for the big picture while doing the local stuff at the nav desk.

The published figures will be for large ships - you can probably cut quite a few corners in a small boat.

But then again, should you allow for the extra distance sailed if you have to do a lot of tacking into wind?
(The OP did ask for the total distance to sail )


Added: Dropping a quick route in OpenCPN gave me a distance of 1689 NM
