Re: Best used Sailboat for Newbie?

The best first sailboat is a RENTED one!

Join a club and let them take care of all the headaches of ownership, while you go out sailing! If you find a club with reciprocal agreements, you'll be able to sail all sorts of different boats, from different locations. For much, much less!

I'm still on my first!

This could be true if your not a handy person. I personally have a problem with paying with someone else's investment... However I do see the value in spending all of your time sailing instead of maintenance too.

Re: Best used Sailboat for Newbie?

Find a local club and take a bunch of sailing classes and then pick a boat much like everyone else's boat. I've sailed in SF Bay and would not pick a 22. I'd go for a 25 or larger though. Pick something stout enough to get you through some of those summer blows and the pounding chop.
