Sailing from St-Thomas USVI to New England

Hey guys!

Another question about customs.

If I clear customs into St-Thomas USVI and I sail from there to anywhere in the US, in my case Boston, without stopping, do I need to clear out of St-Thomas and then clear customs again when I arrive at my destination ? Or is it treated as if I was sailing between 2 US cities ?

PS: I have a Canadian flagged sailboat if it makes any difference.

Short answer “yes”. It is considered outside “Customs territory” and treated like a foreign port.
