Marathon to Marco

Hi anyone have firsthand knowledge about the amount of crab pots between Marco and Marathon? I know the season closes on the 15th of May
Thanks

Re: Marathon to Marco

Doesn't say when you are planning on going, I went in early June of last year and there were very few pots, only one time did I have to change course between Yacht Channel and Marco then Ft Myers then Punta Gorda. Apparently it's much different before the season ends. pete

Re: Marathon to Marco

the pots will be numerous up till the last day of season. Stay inside the preserve area to the north after yacht chanel as far as feasible toward Marco and you will have less problems. Night time not advised.

During season, there are lots of crab pots. You can avoid most by staying inside the Everglades preserve markers. Beware, mosquitoes, horseflies and no-see-ums are abundant in this area. I recommend deet.

Oh yeah, the horse flies are terrible, even miles off shore. What are they doing out there???

Good advice, we have done this numerous times. Definitely stay inside where it shows old markers, some are rusted off below the waterline.
