Guide for Devil's Backbone to Harbour Island

I read that a local guide is suggested for transiting the Devil's Backbone down to Harbour Island. We've been using the Explorer charts and Navionics for the past few months in the Bahamas with great success for the past few months. I'm looking at the detail charts for that route and I don't see anything that would be all that difficult. We draw about 4'. Did you use a guide?

Re: Guide for Devil's Backbone to Harbour Island

I draw four feet and did fine following the Explorer charts without a guide. The ferry goes through at full speed. It's not that hard. The guides are mostly used by the big yachts. Go on a calm day.
