Colombia 29 for sale
Colombia 29 for sale. Steering wheel, not tiller model. Last boat to leave the yard before they went into receivership.
$8k CAD
Comes with completely unused Shakespeare outboard, 4hp.
Major refit ten years ago with new 27hp diesel, keel unbolted and reseated, hull/deck separated - cleaned out - resealed. Best guess, 500h on the engine.
Boat has been stored for 6 years and is nicely dry inside. Needs a power wash, new batteries, new running rigging, new bimini fabric, likely an update to the electronics.
Comes with main and foresail, bimini frame, modern AIS VHF radio, older chart plotter, dated depth and speed instruments, cold box, 120v fridge, assorted parts and tools.
Interior woodwork in very good shape, no funny smells.
Priced for quick sale, as the owner has passed away.
Stored in Little Current, ON.

Re: Colombia 29 for sale
Still for sale. Last buyer fell through. It’s spring so it’s practical to show now. We have a survey from them. She doesn’t show particularly well but no latent problems. Running rigging, house and starter batteries, engine restart and we should be good to go.

Re: Colombia 29 for sale
Hi, this boat is now being sold for $100 to help clear the storage yard bill and close my sister's estate this year. Otherwise it will be scrapped.
If you consider it as a total zero of a boat, which it isn't, the motor is in excellent condition and there's the outboard.
The boat needs batteries, running rigging, bimini frame (we have the fabric) and a fix for the missing starter key.

Re: Colombia 29 for sale

I had one just like it. Hughes Columbia 8.7. Built in Canada, same design but finished a little different than the Whittaker Columbias built in California. Mine had the Yanmar 2GM 13hp raw water cooled. The 3GMF 27hp fresh water cooled is a real improvement.

Re: Colombia 29 for sale
capt jgw, thank you for the insight. The engine is a nice upgrade. I've posted the boat on Craigslist nearby, too. It would be a shame to see it be chopped up, but we can't keep paying the accountants and the yard to keep this on the hard. There's a slim chance I will take the boat on to recover some value and honour my sister's dream, but it's slim.

Re: Colombia 29 for sale
Is there a storage bill pending? I've always been a little sad I let my 8.7 go. I might be interested.

Re: Colombia 29 for sale
There is certainly some storage owing. To keep things clean, the estate is going to pay the yard in the coming weeks regardless of a sale, and then either scrap the boat or sell it at an agreeable price. The yard is rightly in no mood to allow visitors as long as there is a storage bill pending. As I wrote earlier, it's hard to imagine an offer we would refuse. I would gladly come up north to help orient the buyer, help find the starter key, try to start the engine, etc. There is some 8 year old diesel and dead batteries on board. The boat's interior, when I last visited in the spring, was normal with no mold or diesel smells.

Re: Colombia 29 for sale
Pm me with the address I'd like to take a look. Not sure how to import into the US even though the buyer of my previous 8.7 exported to Canada. I'm currently a USCG 200GT Master so can deliver to US under that authority if needed. I'm in Michigan so not a big deal to come up to CN too look. I think I have all the proper documentation.
