Cheap winter docking Boston area?
Hi folks,
I'm looking for someone who has some information on cheaper docking in the Boston area for the winter. I was able to score the deal of a lifetime...38' C&C, for very little money, but I don't have the money to keep her in storage, and I can't keep her at those fancy marinas, where up front money is an issue.
Anyone have any leads? Happy to share my story.

Re: Cheap winter docking Boston area?
If you want a winter slip in Boston Harbor, the cheapest is Boston Harbor Shipyard Marina in East Boston at about $49 per foot. But there are places in the boston area where you can get her hauled for less. If you can get under the bridge (49ft) on the Danvers River you can get a haul, wash and splash for $46 per foot at Liberty Marina.

Captain's cove in Quincy is 35$ft for winter wet slip plus electric, 25$ft if you have your own Ice eater. They have a fairly active liveaboard community that will keep an eye out for any untended boats through the winter if you ask. I've been here about 4 years now.

I havent found anything "cheap" but Im finding better pricing North and South of Boston.
Brewer Hawthorne Cove Marina
Length X Beam X $5.75 = haul out/launch and jack stands.

Re: Cheap winter docking Boston area?
Last winter was one of the most brutal we've ever had. We usually don't experience too much in the way of Ice here, but the 100+" of snowfall packed on top of the harbor essentially created a frozen freshwater lake on top of the salt water. The harbor ferries and even the coast guard boats were getting regularly stuck in the ice.
That said, every other year I've been here the ice eater kept us floating free without any trouble.

Was that the boat on on ebay? great price! hey its a bit of a sail. but Borden Light in Fall River- means a trip through Cape Cod Canal and nice sail through RI Sound and up the Sakonnet River. definitely a full day +
but haul out power wash and splash went for 34.00/ft last year.
they were great and friendly group. my $.02.

$1,000 bucks plus electric! Really, that's the cheapest in Boston? What about further north... Charlestown, Revere? Do you know of any up that way? Thanks.

Re: Cheap winter docking Boston area?
There's Constitution Marina in Charlestown. but you're talking much more expensive. It is a great marine though.... Only other "cheap" marine north of Boston that I know of is Crystal Cove. Last time I checked they were either 35$, or 40$ per ft plus electric, no liveaboards allowed. There really is no cheap dockage in the area, and it gets much, much worse as you head down the cape...

Just to clarify, the prices I'm quoting are for the whole season, not per month. For a 40" boat with an Ice eater that works out to 200$ a month plus electric. As a liveaboard there's no other possible way for me to live in the Boston area for anywhere close to that kind of money.
Wintering in New England on the water is definitely not for everyone, however apart from a few of the months from last year I really enjoy it.
