6 month dinghy storage in Florida

I have a bit of an odd question. We found a second hand dinghy in Florida that we like. However it is a bit early to buy a dinghy since our boat is being delivered in August in Ft Lauderdale.

So if we buy this dinghy now, what options exist to store it for 6 months? It is 10.5ft long with a 20 HP outboard.

The $$$$ it would cost to store that dink for 6 months anywhere in the Ft. Likkerdale....er....Ft. Lauderdale area will likely be equivalent to buying a new one, as it will likely go on a rack somewhere inside a drystack building.

Easy enuff to find out yourself. Go online and google or call any marina in Ft. L that has a drystack building and ask for a quote.

Additionally, that motor after sitting for 6 months will likely need an overhaul.

Have you actually seen this dink ?

We will be there to check the dinghy so we can make a buy/no-buy decision but need to have a plan for storage before we get to that point.

Find an out of the way storage place and rent a 20' unit. Can't be that much.

Or if it's an inflatable you can rent an even smaller unit.

Deflate it and rent a locked storage unit. Wash and clean it before storing. Change oil, etc. on the motor and store upright if possible, or else laid down per manufacturers instructions, but upright is best. It will be fine.

Make sure you can store the motor before signing an agreement, some storage facilities ban storing anything with an internal combustion engine.
