Re: Turkey - Military Coup

We are sailing in south Turkey for the last two months.
My impressions:
There is no danger to the yachting community. We are welcome anywhere.
The towns are peaceful. Some more police around but not much.
Erdogan party organizes 'power shows' with speaches, music, national anthem etc. Most people in these are brought in buses from the villages.
People in towns, especially with higher education and more tourist dependent are against Erdogan policies but against military coup at the same time.
Most of the tourist disappeared as the country seems unstable and Turkey succeded to ruin its relations with the countries that were the major source of tourism.
Any tourist still around is highly welcome.

Goverment can't do that probably but you can. If you do not let out your s*#t to the water, definetly the water will be clearer.

Re: Turkey - Military Coup

But this is not how humans are wired in the real world.

What you want is clear anti pollution policies, good laws and very high penalties, combined with very efficient supervision/execution.

Countries where financial penalties for water pollution are highest and where the culprits get caught and penalised end up with cleanest waters.

Med nations neither have the ecological conscience, clear policies, nor are executing whatever they might have.

Water quality varies from dirty to very dirty, depending on where you are.

People in their mass will not stop polluting, unless it hurts them financially.

Kemel was, unfortunately for us, a brilliant General and we had to withdraw after some months of fighting.

Kemel rose to the top and in post WW1 Turkey became Ataturk, the Father of modern Turkey.

It's a shame his constitution lies in ruins and his statues are being ripped down.
Does all this have to do anything with cruisers and crusing in Turkey ??

if yr duty is to warn cruisers about potential dangers, you should also talk us about Nice, Brussell, Paris as well. The idiots are everywhere..

I just want to hear about any cruiser who has been negatively impacted because of all what happened; none that I 've heard of so far...

Pls stop it Mark.. I know you hate Turkey but yr one sided views can mislead people who doesn't know you and who can take you seriously. If you want continue, I would kindly suggest that you do so in many other political forums but not on CF please.

Cheers
