next will be bringing in 50,000 philipino "contract" nurses paid at less than the minimum wage and agricultural workers housed in labour camps

Thats how Maggie broke the Unions.. sold of the council houses and suddenly all the strikers found they did not qualify for state aid anymore..

and they were the lucky ones that bought, many of those properties that were bought for 20-30K are now being sold for 300-400K or more .
this probably accounts for the recent wave of generational socialists that just turned fascist

This is one of the very few rational things I've read about Brexit in three years.

PS; Isn't your mom Hungarian or something, that should get you an EU Citizenship.. Best of both worlds..

Good for England, silly to join that thing in the first place for places like England, letting others ride your coat tails no good. Hopefully this also fixes their medical system, I heard their wait times could be crazy.

Stop whining and start celebrating.

Taxes and regulation will be home made in the future and you can decide by elections on them freely.

The unelected EU corrupted officials needed the UK. The UK did not and does not need the EU. Anyone who doesn't want to leave the EU could go to France or Ireland. Maybe Scotland if they decide to separate and stay in the EU. That will be their mistake.

The Euro is going down the tubes sometime before 21. So it behooves you to keep Sterling alive.

Re: BREXIT

Sadly the free National Health Service (NHS) in the UK could swallow up every £M you gave it without significant improvement. It wasn't envisaged to support the ageing population with advanced treatment available today. However, it is free and generally speed is based on medical need. It's not cheap but it is always available and a credit to the country IMHO. Why doesn't first world countries like the US have free health care?

What to do about visiting other EU countries which will probably be the majority of UK cruisers destinations? well private holiday insurance could be one option providing you are not old, infirm or have a medical condition which will equal £££. Or some form of buy in treaty to continue with the current system were all EU citizens can carry a free card entitling them to free treatment in other countries. I think every so often the bean counters tot it all up, do a bit of horse trading and pay for the costs their people have incurred in other EU countries. Weavis may know more how it works.

Ireland has a interesting system for minor injuries which involve drop in clinics 7 days a week on a pay as you go basis.

Better still lets get the message out to foreign yachts that the UK is open for biz and a great place to reset the clock on a European tour.

"Roll up, roll up, cheap moorings in a free country over here". "Dollars accepted and American spoken".

Its not that expensive Pete.. I never carry Insurance nor a Health Card (expired in 1999) I just pay as I go..
St Barths I gashed the sole of my foot and needed 15 stitches.. cost me €80 paid at the hospital and another €28 for painkillers and self med aftercare kit.
Portugal.. Three cracked ribs came to €45 all in..
Cash is king.
Anything major €100 Easyjet to Gatwick..

nope i detest all of them, whatever flavour they come in!
i just want to go back to being an expat,so i can hang out with the locals, somewhere warm on my yacht without having to be constantly on my guard if working, now illegally, and without constraints on duration of stay speaking any one of the 3 european languages that i speak in the respective countries.

the greedy 8% who own 89% of the wealth, mostly inherited in this country are making it more difficult for me to do this,so if i can in any way expose the greed and bring down the whole corrupt system, the sooner the better.

FREE?? Nothing is free in the USofA!! Everyone that works pays into the Medicare system. Then are rewarded when they retire by paying again for Part B every month and need a supplement to pay for the 20% that isn't covered.

Big pharma won't allow it to happen. Their shareholders would revolt.

I tolerated that arkane system when taking care of my Dad. He was born in Chicago, was in USArmy for years, then got a real job for 30 years all the while paying into Medicare. But then chose to live in Iceland. He paid into the system for all those years and got screwed by the system he vowed to protect.

However why American's don't have free healthcare - the one's on SSI and SSDI or Medicaid get everything for free. Some paid into the system and most did not - loopholes in law allow this. Big boondogle - hopefully Mr Trump can sort it out.

That was true even before Brexit.

UK waters are absolutely fabulous cruising grounds, not to be missed on any European cruise. You get 6 months leave to enter when you come, every time you come, officialdom is relaxed and friendly, there is enough interesting coastline to spend a lifetime cruising and never get bored with, infrastructure and technical service is the best in Europe and moderately priced, the South Coast is fine in the winter.

Moorings aren't cheap on the S Coast in summer, however.

You can definitley come and we welcome you but don't expect cheap or free moorings, the MDL marina monopoly, and AP ports has got that nicely sewn up for their shareholders, a marina berth to rent on the south coast will cost you more than renting a 3 bedroom house,my advice fly here it will be cheaper and you will see more, plus marina berth's are scarce.

we sold all our ports to the saudi's,various momopolys refused EU funding to build more marinas as it would have broken their monopoloy, and strangle hold on berths, government quango's control mooring in all the popular areas,so you will be paying top dollar whether you use a mooring or anchor

er...
The NHS is not free. Look on your payslip. You pay a stamp.

The problem is mismanagement, Always has been always will be.

i speak as a medic who knows stuff!

Come over Alex and be an ex-pat with us... we will not even discuss Brexit because we will be enjoying the cheap beer and spirits too much.

My local pub in Seville, lots of tapas and beer is 80p a pint...
I rarely spent more than €10 a night and was content.
