BVI British Virgin Islands update.
BVI has 2 confirmed cases as of yesterday.
BVI closed its borders to incomming planes and vessels not long ago. On this past Wednesday March 25 they announced a 6 day curdew starting Friday March 27 at 8pm. All businesses closed and all people to shelter in place until April 2nd. Groceries and
fuel docks included. Today is day 3 and as far as I know there are only a few cruisers left and they are sprinkled in bays throughout the BVI. The main immigration office in Road Town is officially closed until April 13. My gut says that the curfew will be extended. My gut is obviously not official, so only time will tell.
Just to give you an idea of the gravity of the situation.. There are only 4 sail
boats in Great Harbor, Jost Van Dyke. As you may know Great Harbor is home to Foxys, is very popular and it's normally hard to find a spot to
anchor with 75 plus
boats. The Bight at Norman Island also has a hand full of sailing vessels, where there are normally 100 plus.
Strange times my friends.
I will update this post as time allows.
Take care and stay safe.
