Medivac insurance

We spent 3 months cruising from Miami as far as Georgetown, Bahamas last year. We are about to head back out for another 3 to 4 months and continue south. Looking for some input on medivac insurance. Mahalo.

Re: Medivac insurance

I used Diver Dan evacuation insurance for 4 seasons in the Bahamas. Happily, it was never needed.

Re: Medivac insurance

I organized 2 DAN evacuations from the Caribbean and both were executed without problems. One cost $29,000.

Re: Medivac insurance

A friend used Medjet to repatriate from Lima Peru. Would have been an out-of-pocket fortune otherwise.
My sister-in-law could have used it in Trinidad. Had she had it, it would have saved $65,000 for a two day medical evacuation back to Houston. And maybe saved her life.

Without trying to intrude… could she be treated in Lima?

I have no idea- but knowing my friends involved, there was no way they were not going to take advantage of world-class treatment in their hometown of Houston. ( both cases I am familiar with involved Houston repatriation- a common thing on the Houston medical scene.)
