Cheap good marina Bimini

I'm looking for a a good cheap marina to stay a few days to a week after crossing.

Any suggestions? Latest prices?

I like Bimini Blue Water, but haven't been there since 2019. Was 1.25/ft then. Browns was the same price. Neither is fancy but I don't tend to stay longer than I have to in Bimini.

Thanks.

I think the Berry Islands will be my next stop. I see plenty of Anchorages, what's good to do there?

Re: Cheap good marina Bimini

We like Browns, but they're all basically the same. The marina on South Bimini usually has really good deals in the winter, but there's even less to do on South Bimini. I agree that Bimini is an okay place to check in, but get out and head east as soon as possible.

There are a ton of great places in the Berries. Great Harbour is a wonderful area with a nice marina if you need it. Once you go around the top there are several great anchorages right in a row beginning with Soldier. Hoffman's is one of our favorite places in The Bahamas.

There is a free anchorage just North of the Hilton Garden Inn.
You can dingy 300 meters over to the hotel docks to go into town.
Doesn't get any cheaper than that.

Browns. As previous stated they are all close to the same. There's only two marinas in the berries. Great harbor and chub. Stop at great harbor first and work your way around the east side down the chain to chub. The gh Marina is on the west side. The actual great harbor is on the east. Maybe the best beach in the Bahamas. The cut south a whale is a nice spot to anchor as well btw the two.

We found Bimini a most unappealing town - poor and unkempt. We didn't feel it was dangerous - just nasty. I would either go straight through or, if you feel like you need a rest, clear customs there, spend one night, and push on.

Re: Cheap good marina Bimini

It's been since 2018 that we were last in Bimini. We used Brown's Marina. It's probably the most economical of the marinas there. There is a lot of current during tide changes, so timing your arrival and departure is worth consideration. The docks were well kept, and the staff were friendly and helpful. Most everything is within walking distance.

The Big Game Club is more "upscale" and has a pool and restaurant, but I don't know much more about it.

At the north end of North Bimini you'll find the Casino, a Marina, and cruise ship docks.

Infrastructure along the Bimini islands is aged and is in need of attention, but it enhances the atmosphere. There are numerous bars and restaurants along Queens Highway. The locals are friendly.

We plan to pass through there again around Memorial Day weekend.

The same good things to do throughout all of the Bahamas, - swimming, snorkeling, enjoying the beaches, stringing the hammocks to watch the satellites soar by in the star-filled night sky.....

Nates makes the best bread on No Bimini. And there is some good snorkeling or dive the wreck of the Sapona. Plenty to keep you busy.

Bimini Blue Water has always been our stopping place. Friendly staff, helpful, clean showers and good security.

I recommend checking out the blue hole on Hoffman's. There's also an old stone church (or something that looks like a church) on Hoffman's that was interesting.

We used S Bimini marina (again) in 2019 and the place was literally falling apart. Dock cleats gave way, a couple of finger piers broke loose. The pool was no more. The location is great (no tidal currents to fight on docking/undocking) and the price was nice. Does anyone know if it has been repaired since?

Re: Cheap good marina Bimini

The marina on South Bimini, Bimini Sand Resort has a winter deal at 150$ a week, no matter boat length.
A bit far away from downtown, but you can borrow bikes, 2$ to take the ferry to Bimini north, and you will be there in 5 minutes (15 minutes walk).

It is the best protected marina. I do not like the marinas on Alice Town in Bimini North, as when it blows with a good easterly / trade winds there is a large chop that makes staying at dock uncomfortable.

If you choose Bimini North, go to the far end of the channel near the big resort to enjoy more peace full dockage.

Re: Cheap good marina Bimini

Blue Water was $1.50/ft when I visited 2 weeks ago.
Chub has a dockage rate policy dependent on how busy they are. Book online with suggested dates to find out how much. I was there in late Jan and paid $45/ngt for a 40ft slip. They don't seem to mind if you're slightly over 40ft.
