Sea Sprite 34

Located in Rhode Island. $38,000. Sea Sprite 34 Builder C.E. Ryder Bristol, Rhode Island 1981 Turn key sail away condition full keel, cutaway fore foot well appointed cruising vessel. Extensive upgrades and consistently maintained. The list is long so I am sure I will miss some items.

Lod: 33’ 10” Beam: 10’ 3” Draft: 4’ 10” Displacement: 12,800lb. Head room: 6’2”

Engine: Beta Marine 25 hp. 420 hours. Installed new in the fall of 2013 along with a new prop shaft, cutlass bearing, stuffing box, and engine compartment insulation and exhaust blower. A new 3 blade prop was installed in 2017 along with a new Racor 500 filter system.

Fuel tank: 17 gal. There is a deck plate on the tank, accessed through a larger one in the cockpit, which allows every corner of the tank to be reached for cleaning. Easy emptying and “polishing” of the fuel is provided by simply connecting the separate electric fuel pump mounted next to the Racor in the engine compartment.

Rigging: Port and starboard chain plates, and all standing rigging replaced in 2013 along with the addition of bronze turnbuckles and leather covers. The mast head light, deck light, and vhf antenna were replaced at this time and a new depth sounder was also installed. Edson pedestal with a teak destroyer wheel, and an emergency tiller. New steering, throttle and shift cables and controls in 2019 along with an access hatch to the steering quadrant were installed. New mainsheet and jib halyard 2019. Lewmar self-tailing sheet winches 2018.

Navigation/electronics: Furono radar, Icom vhf, B&G chart plotter, Magellen gps, Autohelm wheel pilot, Mister Vee self steering wind vane (2019). The masthead wind speed indicator is not working.

Deck gear+: Sea Tiger 555 windlass, 45lb CQR with 100’ 3/8 chain and approx. 180’ Ύ 3 strand rode. Danforth secondary anchor with additional rode. Rigid boom vang. Stamoid dodger, bimini, connector and full cockpit enclosure. All new glass 2019. Custom two piece Sunbrella sun awning 2018. Full winter custom cover of Sunforger canvas with galvanized frame. Teak helms man cockpit grate. Ten opening portlights. Two Bomar deck hatches new in 2018. Two bimini mounted solar panels with a Blue Sky charge controller. Sunbrella grab rail covers, weather cloths, winch and compass covers. Hinged cockpit cushions of EZ-DRI foam recovered in the fall 2019. Multi-purpose companionway canvas door/screen option lets air in and keeps insects out. Mid-ship cleats on teak bases added. MOB rescue sling. 23lb. Fiberglass propane tank. Manual bilge pump in the cockpit.

Interior: Hot and cold pressure water. Under sink water filter. Tasco two burner stove with oven. New 2015. All cushions replaced 2013. Six inch foam in the V berth, four inch foam seating and three inch foam for the seat backs in the main cabin. The main cabin cushions recovered in 2017. Deep double sink in the galley, Sea Frost cold plate refrigeration installed 2014 works flawlessly. Additional ice box insulation 2019. There are two foot pumps in the galley. One is a backup should the pressure water pump ever fail. Just turn a valve and pump away. The other is to either use sea water in the galley or remove any water from the ice box. This is also accomplished through a y-valve.
Dickinson Cozy Cabin propane heater Spring 2019. Led lighting throughout. There are insulated Sunbrella covered removable panels for the V-berth cabin sides, chain locker bulkhead and door and the Bomar deck hatches. There are also screens for the hatches and on all the port lights. There are two electric bilge pumps. One is mounted higher than the other and wired separately. The shower in the head drains into a sump box which contains is own pump activated by a switch in the head. There is a C- Head composting head. All fresh water lines replaced 2017.

Sails: All sails are in good condition. Full battened main, working headsail, storm jib and drifter.

Dinghy: Not included but available separately. 9 ft. Dyer Dhow. Three seat cushions, under seat storage for center seat, flotation under the forward seat, rub rail (all new 2019). Two rowing stations. Very strong but heavy oars with bronze oar locks. I made these from straight grain Douglass Fir after having snapped a store bought oar rowing against a very strong current. Reinforced towing eye installed. Johnson 3.5 hp two stroke in fair condition.

Misc: Life jackets, dock lines, any engine spares, shore power cord, flares and probably some other items are included in the sale. Not included as mentioned, is the Dyer dinghy, my personal items including cookware, tools, and the binocular box (which I built). The boat was hauled in Oct. 2019 when the hull was polished and two coats of an ablative bottom paint were applied. A paint specifically for props was also applied. Naturally, a new zinc was also installed. The fuel tank is full. The hull has no blisters. She is in Rhode Island in the water with the winter cover on. Dockage is paid up until Spring. I have lots of pictures and am available to answer questions and show the boat. I have many years experience in the marine industry, particularly in marine canvas. I can be reached at 401 340-7482. Thanks, Tony.

Re: Sea Sprite 34

She is still available. Covid 19 free. (so far). I recently applied five additional coats of Eppifanes varnish to the toe and rub rails. Summer dockage paid through October. Hanging out on my boat has been a great way to self-isolate. Very grateful to have her.

Re: Sea Sprite 34

I wish everyone selling a boat put in this much detail and included photos like you have here (although I wouldn't mind seeing what the head looks like).
Can I ask why you're selling?
Thanks.

Re: Sea Sprite 34

My reasons for selling are similar to my reasons for buying. Time for a lifestyle change. I've been living aboard my Sea Sprite for a little over seven years. I spent several years ashore after ten years living aboard other boats I've owned. The time ashore was spent operating a canvas business and resto-fixing and riding/traveling on several older motorcycles. Mainly BMWs. For a couple of years I thought about buying a van and spending a couple of months at a time traveling the country. Early this past January, before our world was turned upside down, I stumbled upon a 1979 Dodge van in really nice condition with just under 50,000 original miles. Things seemed to be falling into place. I think most of the traveling will be delayed a year or two but my transition plans continue. I am grateful for the boat and the liveaboard lifestyle I have experienced. I may eventually pick up a daysailer or even get back into canoeing, something I used to spend a lot of time doing.

Re: Sea Sprite 34

Bit of an update. My Sea Sprite is still available. I wrote this ad way back in December before life for all of us changed dramatically. The winter cover has been off since March and the Summer dockage is paid through October. Don't think I mentioned it before but this has been a smoke free vessel and is still Covid free.
