Moody 425, in the Caribbean?
Hi there
I'm finally taking the leap, and looking to buy a boat in the Caribbean - Grenada preferably.
After some quality time on Yachtworld, a Moody 425 would be my top pick. (2 double cabins, plus the bunk / storage cabin layout.)
Anyone looking to sell one, or know if there's one on the market I've missed?
Thanks!

There is one in Panama on 'sailboat listings.com'. Great boats for the money. There was one in ABC's for$ 85, but it's sold

Re: Moody 425, in the Caribbean?
Thanks, Henryk. I emailed and tried to call the Panama listing owner, but got no response. Either he's out of range cruising, or perhaps he sold the boat already.
Also looked at a Moody 'project boat', but I think it's too much for me to take on for a first boat.
Will keep a lookout and see when something else comes up, but seems they are more popular in the UK and EU.

Re: Moody 425, in the Caribbean?
Red Jess,
My wife and I are the ones who bought the Moody 425 in the ABC's (Curacao). Penny Lane had been owned by a sailing couple who sailed her -- along with their young son -- for 5 years in the Med and then across the pond to Caribbean and even up to NYC. Evidently it was time for the son to return to regular schooling so they left the boat and returned to GB -- but they loved the boat and found the Moody 425 to be the perfect family boat.
Recent surveyor's comment was interesting -- "they don't make boats like this any more."
PM us and we would be glad to share anything we learned from the 2-year process of looking for a Moody 425 on this side of the Atlantic.

Congratulations guys! I was going to buy her, but waited to long and when finally was ready, she was gone. It looked like a hell of a deal. Cruising boats that well equipped don't come on the market very often

Re: Moody 425, in the Caribbean?
Hi,
Not sure how your search has progressed, but we have also just purchased a Moody 425 in the Med after a couple of year search.
They are great boats, obviously considering their age most will require some renewing but they are well built cruising boats.
Happy also to answer any questions you may have and best of luck with the search!

Re: Moody 425, in the Caribbean?
I just returned from trip to St Petersburg and had eyes on the Moody March 25th... it is at Preferred Yacht sales on the south end of town. I have talked with a broker there, NOT ON THE MOODY but a different listing. The Moody was there at 100k. great boat. think it was a '91 well after the blister issue solved. The broker there I know is Joe Zammataro
727 560 0220. good standup truthful guy.
