Blue Water Cruiser

Roberts Offshore 44, go anywhere steel centre cockpit ketch with pilothouse. Almost certainly the best one around! Huge amount of money spent on total refit, literally everything ripped out of the boat and replaced by new.

Re-advertised due to time waster.

All of the usual: Radar, AIS, Raymarine touchscreen chart plotters, Navtex Nav6, Icom SSB, AirX wind generator, solar panel, Watermaker (92 litres per hour), Kohler 5EFKOD generator, Victron Multiplus 3000 (120 amp), Sleipner SE100 Bowthruster, Redbox comms, Fusion sound system, Rocna anchor, Lofrans Tigres windlass plus 2x reverse cycle air conditioning plants (essential in The Med!)

This boat will take you anywhere in the world in great safety. The pilothouse is a massive advantage both in rainy weather at anchor and, more importantly, when conditions get a bit hairy offshore! The keel is integral to the hull, so no keelbolt issues to worry about.

Fitted with two Furlex roller foresails, the inner being fitted with a storm jib and the other a 110% genoa. The advantage of the ketch is that the main is then a manageable size, making it ideal for short-handed sailing. The mizzen is brand new. 2x Harken 53’s are the primary winches. Aquarius stack-packs and lazy-jack systems for the main and mizzen.

The two stand-alone reverse cycle air-conditioning plants on the boat are fantastic. 1x 12,000 BTUH and 1x 16,000 BTUH. Icy cold when required but they also provide tremendous warmth at the touch of the thermostat control panel (we have over-wintered in cold climes, so we were certainly glad of its efficiency!)

We did a great deal of research into insulation on steel boats before we fitted the Rockwool system. This has turned out to be money well spent, below decks is cool in summer and warm in winter. There is NEVER any damp or condensation inside the boat, which is often a common problem on steel boats.

Tinned wire is fitted throughout the boat.

All standing and running rigging renewed by Hemisphere Rigging.

Built by JHB Kinloch Marine of Durban, South Africa in 1985.

L.O.A. 13.75m

Beam 3.87m

Draught 2.5m

Tonnage 20.5t

Engine- Lehman (Ford) 271E 85hp (631 hrs from total rebuild)

We spent £400k making this our ‘forever home’ but, unfortunately, fate has stepped in, meaning we need to be back in the UK for the foreseeable future therefore, sadly, not cruising around on our boat!

Agreed insurance valuation of £200k

For sale at £120k.

She is at present in Valencia, Spain.
