Puget Sound

Hello!
I am a new sailboat owner (Catalina 27) in the Puget sound looking for the best spots to sail to this summer

I’m learning to sail and looking to go to as many places as I can with my boat

Let me know where I should go

Re: Puget Sound

Are you in a marina?

There are many interesting places to sail in the Sound. I have really enjoyed the San Juan Islands but if you are starting out from Shilshole it is a decent distance for a weekend trip.

Yes I’m in a marina near Bainbridge Island

You can drop the anchor in Poulsbo, Gig Harbor, or Manzanita Bay, or grab a mooring ball at Blake Island (or go to the marina at Tillicum Village). There's also Blakely Harbor on Bainbridge that has a nice sunset view of Seattle. It all depends on the amount of time you can take off. Grab the Dreamseeker guides for the area you're interested in: www.dreamspeakerguides.com

You are kinda in the mid zone, so limited places for weekend trips.
-A short day trip/overnight is just south of the Bainbridge Ferry area at Blakely Harbor. Port Blakely. I used to do a one night there from the Seattle side. Easy for you and a good first trip maybe.
-There are many little spots but you need time. Figure maybe 30 miles a day to get somewhere in your 27 footer. Plan your trips.
-Get yourself a cruising guide for Puget Sound. I would probably make trips North from you for more opportunities.. Port Hadlock and other spots are kinda fun.
-There's an unimproved wild beach North from the Bainbridge ferry landing, it's accessible from an anchored boat at Indianola. I went over there from Seattle also.

Re: Puget Sound

Kingston and Edmonds are nice places to visit for lunch or overnight.
