Bahamas jumping points

Heading down to the West Palm Beach area in a few weeks to hang out for a weather break to head out to West End.
Does anyone recommend a nice marina with other crossing boaters? Nothing fancy, but good company is preferred. Any chat areas that would share their experience and possible joint trip people a big plus.

I have always used Lake Park Harbor Marina when I've stayed in marinas at WPB. I have found that I prefer to just anchor out in the lake, south of Peanut Island. With a good dinghy you can easily run about and get groceries. There is a nice grocery store on Palm Beach near the 1st drawbridge below Peanut Island. There is a nice restaurant and bar at Sailfish Marina (right on the inlet). I'm afraid that this time of year (near peak hurricane season) you will not find many people at all crossing over to the Bahamas, except for people in fishing boats that run 20kts+.

Lowcountry, thanks for the suggestion. We will definitely look into that area. We have a 30 bayliner and should run about 20 knts. We are not looking to leave until first part of November when it settles down some.
We'd also like to meet up with other motors heading out or have and want to share their experiences.
