Shift in S. Hemisphere Rain Band Could Affect Sailors

Global Warming Causes More Extreme Shifts of the Southern Hemisphere's Largest Rain Band, Study Suggests.

Most scientists and people do not deny that climate change is happening, although some people still don't believe man impacts it. Regardless of cause, the effect is real, and this is one that can affect sailors, possibly making visits to some traditional South Pacific islands more difficult.

Rio+20 Summit Drops Climate Change From Agenda « Tory Aardvark

I'm one of those climate heretics. It affects me because in its name my money is taken, my freedoms curtailed, and my intelligence insulted. The study suggests something might be possible. In the 1970's the great suggestion was that global cooling might destroy us all. Proposals were made to heat up the atmosphere. Now that even the chief climate priests have dropped their mantra and gone to sustainability, see Rio +20, it's time their followers caught up. The bird men are coming! Be afraid!

Though all we're going to end up doing is something that was explained in my first link, see above and see here:

Public apathy over climate change unrelated to science literacy

The salient points from the article:

Quote:
"The aim of the study was to test two hypotheses," said Dan Kahan, Elizabeth K. Dollard Professor of Law and Professor of Psychology at Yale Law School and a member of the study team. "The first attributes political controversy over climate change to the public's limited ability to comprehend science, and the second, to opposing sets of cultural values. The findings supported the second hypothesis and not the first," he said.
Quote:
"In effect," Kahan said, "ordinary members of the public credit or dismiss scientific information on disputed issues based on whether the information strengthens or weakens their ties to others who share their values. At least among ordinary members of the public, individuals with higher science comprehension are even better at fitting the evidence to their group commitments."

I have no idea what your saying. Scientist agree that the climate can change. Can we adapt or alter our behavior will be the question. Being more efficient seems like a good idea. Maybe the sailing routes will need to be altered.

As someone who sincerely believes the world would benefit from fewer humans, I support climate change denial and invest in agricultural ETFs.
