Atlantic ICW - Bogue Sound

Moving a Hatteras 63 last week, northbound in the ICW from Titusville FL to near Wash DC. Ran hard aground mid-channel near marker 10A in Bogue Sound, NC. Seatow could not get us off. Had to wait 7 hours for higher tide, when they came back and got us off easily.

Partial cause: earlier that day, near Camp Lejeune, the Navy stopped us and made us wait 1-1/2 hours for some sort of target practice. I have no doubt that delay put us at low tide in Bogue Sound.

Fortunately, no apparent damage to the running gear.

Use extreme caution in Bogue Sound, and make every effort to traverse at high tide if your draft is more than 4 feet.
