When the technology becomes economically feasible then it will support itself.

In the mean time ....let it go.

Simple Free Market principle.
It's not a free market when American companies are competing with Chinese companies that are subsidized by their government. On top of that China's currency is controlled by the government, not the market. It's not hard to understand why American companies would want to level the field.

Suniva and Solarworld, like many companies in the renewable energy industry, have received millions of taxpayer dollars in the form of grants and tax incentives over the past decade. Now, both are pinning their hopes on the Trump administration's likely move to levy heavy tariffs on foreign competitors.
Suniva received more than $20 million in tax credits before going bankrupt. SolarWorld was given over $100 million before filing for insolvency this April. But the subsidies weren't enough."

Has nothing to do with Trump. I actually don't believe a word he says. He bragged that he would stand up to China but when push came to shove he tucked his tail between his legs. The Chinese government took control of the solar panel market long before Trump. Obama trying to help American companies compete on a hugely unlevel playing field did not make him a villain, it made him a patriot.

Nope. They are operating very well in the North Sea. Lots of them. Wind power has become the lowest cost source of power in Europe, cheaper even than solar.

Funny how all them homes with solar still need the grid....without it they would not have their American Dream Lifestyle of Air Conditioning running on solar.

what you have never seen hurricane force winds and 40+ ft seas in the north Atlantic.
And I actually really asked the question out of genuine curiosity. As to their extreme storm protocols.

During the summer, we put more into the grid than we take out. But during the winter, the opposite is the norm, due to the shorter days and angle of the sun.

My 17 office tenants don’t join me in Italy, and their electricity to run their a/c is included in their rent. We pay for all the electric year round, which is why we added the solar array 11 years ago.

Is the subject area where a wind energy field is proposed subject to 40+ ft. seas?

I believe that the North Sea has experienced hurricane force winds and the North Sea is renowned for the storms and the size of its seas. I'm pretty sure also that the people proposing the installation of wind turbines off the US east coast would have researched the dangers. I'm pretty sure they have scientists on staff or at least on contract to advise them.
