Re: Shore Power Security

I had my 50 amp to 30 amp pigtail adapter stolen last night, while it was in use, attached to the shore power cable. I was inside the boat at the time, and it took me a few minutes to go outside and notice the missing adapter. This was at Pillar Point Harbor, in San Mateo, California. I'm considering purchasing a Camco Durable Protective Power Ball Lock for Outdoor Cables https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...sc_act_title_1

Re: Shore Power Security

Duct tape.

just put some on a part of the cable and may be on one of the plugs, not too exact.

Looks like a quick and dirty fix of a damaged cable / plug and makes it un-attractive for re-location and re-sale.

Re: Shore Power Security

Wow, that's amazing someone would steal a live power cord while you were on the boat!

I guess sometime in the 9 years after everyone said it doesn't happen, it inevitably would.

Anyway, my only contribution is to point out that lots of power posts have a weather cover over the outlets, with a notch or notches to feed the wire through. These generally have a tab with a hole for a padlock.

Re: Shore Power Security

Thanks for the suggestion, CaptTom. The slip next to me is empty, and is often assigned to transients, and the post is shared by both slips. I cannot lock it the post until I have a permanent neighbor.
