Passing power through deck to LED light strip

My kids REALLY want RGB LEDs on our mast (and I'm a goofball too, so why not).

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

The transformer puts out 12V so my intention was to cut it off and wire directly to the female plug. But I want the remote receiver to be inside the boat which would mean the 4-color ribbon cable would be what has to pass through the deck to the mast, and I'd need a disconnect available for when I take the mast down. I do have extension wiring that could go between the controller and the light strips. Maybe I just need a waterproof junction box I can put over the connection and use a standard pass through fitting?

OOhh... maybe this. I can cut and reconnect

I'd appreciate your thoughts on how to do this, not whether I should

HD-
I'd do a strip all the way around the inside of the cabin and a small piece on the outside vertical on each side of the companionway.

I am also looking for some watertight connectors to redo the steam and anchor lights on my trailer sailor mast. There is a female fitting for 4 wires on the deck but the cap and mast end are long gone. Previous owner only used 2 of the pins, I am looking to use all 4.
