I did watch the video, thus my question. The question was about the new pulley possibly being machined for an interference fit (for some reason), not about the properties of the old one. Now understood to be a manufacturing mistake.

I'm not associated $ with any of these people, but when I referenced SW being less expensive, I meant to say less expensive than both TAD and Balmar for the pulleys. This isn't academic to me, I've got to do this in the next couple months.

Also noted that any machine shop can make these parts.

Take your existing one to a good alternator shop for a rebuild, maybe a delta wind too for higher output.

I have a Balmar 165 alternator and wish I went with a different brand. Even derated by 20% mine overheats at 50 degree outside temps. For long term happiness, I would recommend to remotely mount the rectifiers. Lots of pros/cons of alternator brands if you do google searching.

Thats crazy.... I am on my second Balmar (different boats) and never had a problem with heat and I have been know to run 12+ hours when need to get down the road. I have a 150 derated 15%... you have air flow through the engine room?
