Any experience with the 2019+ generation of Volvo Penta + BMS?

Hi all,
I'm repowering my boat with a 2021 VP D4-320 and one of the add ons that was suggested to me was the VP BMS ( https://www.volvopenta.com/marine/pr...gement-system/ ). The installer hasn't used it before, but suggested that it's probably a good idea to just go with the same generation all VP systems on install, and I can't really argue with that logic.

I really can't find any information about it online though, so I'm wondering if anyone has any info on it. The installer suggested that one of the big benefits of it is that it will allow me to have different battery chemistry banks all charged by the alternator. Has anyone done this? What about with LiFePO4 house batteries? Apparently the AC charger will run through the VP BMS - what does that imply for things like battery charge profiles? Are they still managed by the external Xantrex or Victron charger, or does the VP BMS do some magic to take control? How about solar?

Thanks for any insight you can give! Really curious what people's experience has been with these units.

to me looks it's just battery monitoring (voltage, current, ah) and remote battery swtiching. (turning power on and off)

https://www.volvopenta.com/marine/pr...gement-system/

it has nothing to do with battery charging.

looks like a nightmare to troubleshoot if anything goes wrong

if the installer has never used it before, you probably don't want to be his first...
