Lagoon 440 bulkhead Veneer Panels

Hi Folks

This is officially my first post! This looks like a great forum.

We're in the process of looking at 2 Lagoon 440's at the moment and both have cracked veneer panels over the none structural bulkheads. We're going to get the bulkhead work done for sure however, where can we get replacement veneer panels to replace the cracked ones once the glass work is done?

Thanks!

What makes you think there is fiber glass work needed?

Re: Lagoon 440 bulkhead Veneer Panels

There has clearly been bulkhead movement as the vinyl/veneer panels have moved (THhe one in the owners cabin arch into the stateroom has a crack up the centre0 and there is some adhesive cracking in the bottom where the non structural bulkhead attaches to hule (not on the salon side)

BUMPING THIS UP

Does anyone know where to get replacement vinyl/veneer panels for the bulkhead overlays on the 440?

Join Lagoon Owners Facebook page, there is even a specific 440 page. Folks are very helpful on those pages.

I don't have the owners version, but if its above a cabin doorway, that is a vaneer join where two pieces meet and is normally filled with a brown sika.

You will always get very slight cabinetry movement in places as the boat flexes in certain conditions and does not necessarily mean that there is a bulkhead issue. 440's in general have not had bulkhead issues, especially those pre GFC, where as the 45 had lots of bulkhead issues.

Google Lagoon 440 and Lagoon 450. Read all of it and prepare for VERY complete inspection. The veneer is not the problem, it is the symptom. Every break in the veneer means a bad bulkhead.

Those bulkheads are structural and need thorough investigation.

Re: Lagoon 440 bulkhead Veneer Panels

Are you looking at these boats because they are cheaper? Believe me, those savings are not worth the hassle and expense that these cracks will present - while you own the boat and when you try to sell it. You may even have difficulty insuring the boat.

If you were highly experienced and looking for a project boat to spend a year fixing up -- that would be a different matter. But that doesn't sound like you.

Run away.
