Efficiency can be improved with a fabric bag incorporating additional insulation. We have an insulated cover made of fabric that matches the saloon upholstery with a padded top to function as our saloon nav station seat.

This is an excellent suggestion. Also look at the ARB models, the big competitor to Waeco/Dometic & Engel in many countries. The design and development of this style of fridge has really been driven by the Australian 4x4 market, where a warm
beer is simply unforgivable, and the US RV market. They can handle really tough, scorching hot conditions with bad roads, and have all sorts of accessories such as insulating covers and systems whereby they can fitted in a cupboard on sliders, and probably because they're not marketed as a "marine" product the prices are sensible. Some of the 4x4 channels on YouTube have done really good comparisons.
In a Lagoon such a fridge/freezer with a cushion on top could be used at the desk outside the owners
cabin, or at the nav station. Think this is a far better option than paying 1000 euros for a
cockpit fridge option that gives hardly any capacity, or going for any of the
galley upgrades.
