Re: Lagoon 42 Fridge space

I am looking at the Lagoon 42 Owner's version. I haven't seen it 'live' yet, but hopefully will see it at the Miami show in February.

I am wondering if it is possible to put a fully integrated European 60cm width fridge/freezer combo if you take 60cm away from the couch in the owners cabin? It would need at the floor level 55-60cm in depth and 60cm in width. From the pictures I cannot gauge if that space is available without reaching out further than the existing wall between the bedroom and the hallway. Also don't know if the window in the roof is less than 60cm away from the wall. If there is a 60x60 free space I would consider having a carpenter cut the couch and shelves 60cm from the wall and install a custom cabinet to hold the fridge/freezer combo. The unit I am talking about is fully integrated with custom door panels. I have these Liebherr products in my house and they make absolutely no noise except when new ice cubes drops into the empty ice container.

Does anyone know if there in-fact are 60x60cm available on the floor if a piece of the couch is cut/removed?

Re: Lagoon 42 Fridge space

I just saw Lagoon has a stainless steel fridge option for the main fridge in the salon. Has anyone seen this or have a picture? You'd think it would be larger also.

Re: Lagoon 42 Fridge space

Afraid no pictures but we have placed an order for a 42 and fridge space was one of our concerns. After considering lots of options we have ended up deciding to go for one of the portable ones as suggested in a previous post. We are hoping to get dimensions of the space where the lagoon option cockpit fridge goes as it appears it may be much bigger than what they actually use. I'm considering putting it on slide rails for easy access.

This is an excellent suggestion. Also look at the ARB models, the big competitor to Waeco/Dometic & Engel in many countries. The design and development of this style of fridge has really been driven by the Australian 4x4 market, where a warm beer is simply unforgivable, and the US RV market. They can handle really tough, scorching hot conditions with bad roads, and have all sorts of accessories such as insulating covers and systems whereby they can fitted in a cupboard on sliders, and probably because they're not marketed as a "marine" product the prices are sensible. Some of the 4x4 channels on YouTube have done really good comparisons.

In a Lagoon such a fridge/freezer with a cushion on top could be used at the desk outside the owners cabin, or at the nav station. Think this is a far better option than paying 1000 euros for a cockpit fridge option that gives hardly any capacity, or going for any of the galley upgrades.
